Since you bought the navigation system for the ability to use maps, buying a unit with the maps preloaded is a big advantage especially if you do a lot of traveling. However, you can get the unit for cheaper if you load the maps yourself as you need them. It really isn�t hard to load your own maps by transferring them from your pc, but you do need to know a little bit about computers.
